Testimony From Under the Bridge
If you were to venture down “under the bridge” in zone 1 of Guatemala City you might be surprised to find a Charlie’s Lunch Feeding Center there. This feeding center began several years ago now and it is still thrilling to hear the testimonies that keep coming to us about how Charlie’s Lunch Ministries is impacting this community. Pastor Luis and Glendy Lopez are the directors of this center and recently had their church celebrate the “Day of the Friend.” This is a day in which they encourage all the children and families in the church to invite friends to come and hear the Gospel message! As a result of this activity, a woman named Mayra Xilo received Christ! Mayra is the mother of 5 children, 3 of which are enrolled in the Charlie’s Lunch Feeding program, whose husband makes a small living by selling hot dogs on the streets of Guatemala City. Recently Charlie’s Lunch volunteers did a survey of several of the families in this poor area and concluded that Mayra and her children definitely needed the assistance and so they began to feed the kids. Because of Charlie’s Lunch, to the Glory of God, this mother has seen the love of Christ in action and operating in individuals in her own community and is going to be water baptized! So… next time your in Guatemala City, and are driving over this bridge, stop and say a prayer for the Church that is growing right in the poorest of places in the city, “Under the Bridge.”
