Jacinto & Laura- Directors of Charlie's Lunch in Cuernavaca

Jacinto said “In 3 months, it’s amazing to see how the gospel is changing the communities!  You’ll see when you come again!  You will be amazed at all of the changes!”

He said that the kids in the lunchrooms are showing drastic changes. That they now are exhibiting an incredible attitude of service.  They are helping clean, wash dishes, sweep, helping in the kitchen – they don’t want to go home because they feel valued, loved, appreciated…like they matter at the Charlie’s Lunchroom!  They would very much like to start an after school “club” to help with their homework, teaching, etc. and give them the opportunity to hang out and be loved more!  Many of these kids are kids of abuse…and they are coming out of their shells!  They are more expressive, are able to hug and kiss the leaders of the lunchrooms…they can express love! 

In Las Flores, some of our kids come from families so poor that they have never even had a haircut.  Well, they have taken a cosmetologist to the area and gotten everyone well groomed, feeling and looking good, and very proud!  Jacinto says that “Las Flores is further along than Zapata, because the community is even more involved.”  He said that many of the moms are coming to church each Sunday now, and that the community is really responding.  The sanctuary now has a roof, the road is being worked on so that people have easier access to the location, they can lock their things up there now – things are good.  The community is truly seeing that there is restoration in Christ, and freedom from poverty is available to them!
