Over 10 years ago, the first Charlie’s Lunch was given to hungry children who came begging at the Stewart family’s door in Guatemala.  (I’m sure you are familiar with the story,  If not you can read the story here)  These kids were given a sack-lunch, a hug and a prayer.  Shortly after this, the Stewart's began delivering sack lunches to hungry kids in the village of Santa Lucia, Los Ocotes, Guatemala at least once a week with the promise of a feeding center to come.  This feeding center would make sure these little ones didn’t go to bed hungry at night. The feeding center opened in July 1999 and has been going strong ever since.  The church “Hosanna Church” quickly grew from 9 members that met in a tin shack to over 300 members now meeting in a church building.  Here is a picture of those first Charlie’s Lunch kids.  Then and Now.  They are strong healthy young people who are serving in the church.  They have been educated and are pursuing higher education in some cases.
