Charlie's Lunch is in Honduras!

The last few days of Jan. the New Honduras C.L. team went out after receiving instructions from C.L. REGIONAL Director Leopoldo Valdez from Guatemala; and immediately began canvasing and surveying families in the difficult shanty town neighborhood along a river canal within the city limits of San Pedro Sula, Honduras. As the C.L. team was looking for children to register into the brand new feeding program beginning within a few days at the local church, the pastor and regional director came upon a woman with two children. the mother appeared to be very sick. Upon further conversation and discovery they were told this young mother had AIDS. The father also had the disease but was out on the streets. As the C.L. team listened they proceeded to ask the young sick mother if she had ever recieved Christ as her Saviour. She responded with a weak voice as she lay there closer to death than anyone realized, that she had years earlier but that she had walked away and not continued following Christ. They asked her if she would like to renew her committment and be reconciled to Christ afresh and anew? She said, "yes". They prayed with her and the miracle of salvation and eternal life were hers in that moment, all manner of sin and uncleanliness wiped away in that moment, behold all made new in the eternal and spiritual sense. Her composure on her face showed the peace it brought and the prayer for her soul, the prayer for God's care over her and her family consoled and brought comfort. The next day as the team went back to the various houses and shacks they had reviewed, prayed over and studied to choose the 60 children who needed to be registered into the new C.L. feeding center they went by Daisy's little shack, knocked and again were invited to go in. Today, the team had the good news to give Daisy that her children would be recieving a regular nutritious full lunch meal along with a gospel devotional every other day at the church just a block away. A joy came across her countenance as she realized her children would be eating a good hot lunch as a supplement and subsidy to the very limited food they were getting in their tiny 1 room dirt floor shack. She thanked the team as they prayed with her again and spent a time of rejoicing for God's goodness and love for them. The next day the inaugural opening of the feeding center saw 150 in attendance, with a special meal and party for children and parents alike. The team finished their work after a week of set up and by Fri. Feb. 1 the C.L. director went back very satisfied for all that God had done in that community that week. He couldn't forget the joy and peace he last saw on the countenance on the face of the young mother Daisy, her mother and Daisy's 2 small children. God had certainly done a work there and he thanked God he'd been there to be God's hand in bringing aid. He was glad as well for the 70 church members who showed up to volunteer and make everything happen to set up the feeding center and kitchen in the short week they had to complete it. The church had come alive and so had the community that week. As he got home to Guatemala he resumed his normal duties for the weekend keeping busy within his own local church. On Monday morning Pastor Maria called him, to tell him that on Sat. Daisy had died of Aids, but that her passing was one of victory rather than defeat in that she had just a few days earlier been reconciled to Christ, made her committment sure, firm to surrender completely and recieve God's gift of salvation. She also rested in peace finally as Pastor Maria said, "that her children would be taken care of and she could now die." Pastor Maria officiated in the funeral. There was thanksgiving as they realized that Daisy was free of suffering in the presence of the Lord and that her precious children not forgotten by God were already receiving the love and care of a church and a feeding ministry (Charlie's Lunch) that loved them in Christ Jesus.

Thank God for who gave to make this new ministry in Honduras a reality. Their generous gift and compassion was and is just in time. Thank you Initial Outfitters for your partnership in this great work, the fruit gathered and the victory won are shared conquests against the enemy who meant to spoil these preicous lives and communities, but instead were rescued and are being set free already, and in days, weeks and years to come. God bless Alicia, her family and their ministry/business.
